Rebecca J. Metzger DDS
Dr. Metzger completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa with a BS in Exercise Science. She graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, WI with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2007. Dr. Metzger completed a General Practice Residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, IL, where she received advanced training in sedation dentistry, oral surgery, and treatment of patients with special needs. Originally from Madrid, Dr. Metzger moved back to Iowa in 2009 with her husband, Corey, to be closer to family and friends. They have two children, Benton and Emmett.
Dr. Rebecca Metzger has achieved the status of Qualified Dentist in the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), the only non-profit professional association dedicated exclusively to the practice of dental sleep medicine. Dr. Metzger helps treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy, an effective treatment that is covered by most insurance plans. AADSM membership provides Dr. Metzger with access to educational resources and practice management tools that help her better serve her patients by providing the highest quality of care in the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Front Desk Coordinator, Dental AssistantAmber Youngblood is the front desk coordinator and part-time dental assistant at Metzger Family Dental PLLC. Amber became certified as a dental assistant while working at Pollard Family Dentistry and Midwest Dental in Boone, IA. In her free time, Amber enjoys photography and spending time outdoors with her fiancé and children, Landon and Audrina.
Dental AssistantLyndsey is originally from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She graduated with an A.A. degree from Hawkeye Community College in 2005. Lyndsey became a Certified Dental Assistant in 2007 after completing her training at DMACC in Ankeny. Lyndsey began working for Dr. Egeland in 2007 and has stayed through the transition to Metzger Family Dental PLLC. Her experience working with special needs patients at Mainstream Living and as a manager at McDonalds make Lyndsey a personable and compassionate dental assistant. Her hobbies include spending time with her husband and 3 children as well as scrapbooking, camping, and traveling.
Dental HygienistKim has been a Dental Hygienist for 19 years. She graduated from DMACC in Ankeny with the Dental Hygiene Class of 1992. Kim has worked for various dentists in the central Iowa area over the years. She currently works for Dr. Bruce Cochrane, a periodontist in Fort Dodge, and for Metzger Family Dental PLLC. Kim takes great pride in her work and strives to help every patient understand the connection between oral and systemic health. In her free time, Kim enjoys spending time with her family, organic gardening, reading, and dancing. Her husband, John, works at Woodward Resource Center. Between the two of them, they have five beautiful daughters and two grandsons. They have greatly enjoyed being grandparents, as well as learning the ins and outs of helping raise boys instead of girls.
Dental HygienistVaLinda attended Iowa State University and received her B.S. degree in Home Economics Journalism. She worked as a Features Editor for The Ottumwa Courier for 3 years and as the Home Economist for the Florida Poultry Federation in Tampa, Florida. She then pursued a career in dental hygiene and received her A.S. degree from Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN. She worked in the office of Dr. Glenn Hultstrand in Minneapolis, MN for 3 years and then joined the team at Metzger Family Dental PLLC. She has treated patients in our Ames office for 9 years while also working part-time at the Story County Community Dental Clinic and MICA. She also performed periodontal procedures at Ames Periodontal Services from 2007-2011. VaLinda directed the Access to Baby and Child Dentistry (ABCD) program for MICA in Story County from 2000-2001, and was the Director of the Story County Community Dental Clinic from 2003-2005. She served as a dental hygienist member of the Iowa Dental Board from 2008-2011. She also serves as a dental hygiene clinical examiner at various dental hygiene schools throughout the country. In her free time, VaLinda enjoys reading, walking outdoors, and biking.
Dental HygienistJanet’s career in the dental field started in 1974 as a dental assistant/office manager in Indiana. After starting her family and moving to Iowa, she gained further experience as an assistant and office manager. Janet graduated from the DMACC Dental Hygiene Program in 1993 and has continued to expand her dental knowledge. She has 18 years of combined periodontal and dental hygiene experience and is certified to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide. In her free time, Janet enjoys studying her faith and spending time with her family and friends.
